Why nokia modem only give me 100M link to internet rather than 1G local link speed?

Why nokia modem only give me 100M link rather than 1G local link speed?

I check from time to time, it change from 1G to 100M. I changed my router, same result. And even reboot and direct connect to modem cannot fix issue. Was starhub sell me 500M but actually throttle my network to 100M?

In general, speed is a combination of the following:

  1. Device hardware limits - Some devices have limits in terms of speed
  2. WiFi standard for device - Older devices may not be able to use newer WiFi standards
  3. Distance - The further away the device is away from the main node could mean speed reduction
  4. Connection - In general, if connected to the main node, this will yield the best speed
  5. Interference - This could be in the form of DECT phones, microwave oven and of course other WiFi routers in your area. You may need to tweak the channel

Consider upgrading to the Linksys MX4200. It is very good. Pease see this for review.
